I've Been Walking on the Railroad

Dress: BCBGeneration
Bracelets: Nordstrom
Key Ring: House of Harlow
Lucite Ring: Vince Camuto
Necklace: BCBGeneration
Boots: "Riding Hood" Chinese Laundry

I've been walking on the railroad...or I guess I could say posing on the railroad. Sundays in Santa Barbara always consist of wine tasting in Lampoc with J. On our way up there we always pass this amazing view and I've always wanted to stop and explore. Well after 3 or so months of saying so, this trip we actually did. Stepping over the tracks, and winding through the brush, we found ourselves overlooking the ocean. Definitely worth the stop.

I was so excited to finally wear this white high-low dress I recently bought at BCBGeneration. The light-weight cotton and silhouette made this ideal for the breezy Santa Barbara weather. I chose to pair it with my new boots from Chinese Laundry. The second I saw the sample, I knew I had to have them.  I love the look of the distressed leather, the buckle detail and the perfect sized heel. I know I am going to live in these! Luckily the weather in Southern California fluctuates throughout the year, so I wear boots all year long.

I chose to keep my outfit pretty simple but I think it ended up working out just fine :)
Stay tuned for more!

Metallic Madness

Elizabeth and James $325
Brian Atwood $595

Manolo Blahnik $815

Chloe $450

Marc by Marc Jacobs $250

Dirty Laundry $80

I’m in love with the Metallic Madness that is happening right now. Inspired by the sci-fi realm, the lustrous sheen and shiny surfaces seem to be launching us into the future. Unlike anything in my shoedrobe, I for one am excited to incorporate these showstoppers into my wardrobe this Fall. Only one problem…I need a bigger closet.

I am getting into a blogging routine now so look for a post everyday!

Fair Frenzy

Top: Lucky (Borrowed)
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity

Shoes: "Amped Up" Chinese Laundry

Ventura County Fair

Spiral fries

Potatoes wrapped around a hot dog? Surprisingly yummy!

Ring: House of Harlow

Deep fried grilled cheese?
Just don't do it!

Who doesn't love a county fair? The rides, the crazy food, the games (that are clearly impossible to win but you spend all your money anyways) ...the whole atmosphere is just something that cannot be missed. I make it a point to go to the fair at least once a year. Now I grew up in Orange County so I am accustomed to that fair, but this year I knew I was going to be in Santa Barbara. Once I saw the ferris wheel light up at night on my drive up there, I knew that is was the year for the Ventura County Fair.

I chose to keep my outfit simple. My favorite black skinnies by Citizens of Humanity, a light button down that I borrowed from my amazing roommate/best friend and I had to throw on these amazing heel-less platforms from Chinese Laundry. My blog is called High4heels for a reason! Sometimes I do not choose the most practical shoes; if I am feeling it with my outfit I wear it. (Don't worry I brought back up shoes in case.) Some people are frightened of the thought of heel-less platforms but they actually are not that terrifying. They are incredibly easy to walk in. The thick 2" platform takes on all the walking work.

Stay tuned for more!

Viva La Fiesta!

 Top: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Pants: Ever
Shoes: Steve Madden
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Rings: H&M, BCBGeneration

Viva la fiesta! This was continuously chanted through the streets of Santa Barbara this past weekend. I was IN the moment I heard fiesta! So what is Santa Barbara's fiesta all about? It's basically like Cinco de Mayo but instead of celebrating on the 5th, they celebrate for 5 days! It makes sense right?!? Fiesta celebrates Santa Barbara's Spanish heritage with parades, el mercado, rodeos, traditional food and an another excuse to enjoy margaritas and cervezas all day long!

I wanted to dress festive for the occasion, so I decided to wear this printed Marc by Marc Jacobs tank with my favorite colored skinnies from Ever. We walked all around the city so I needed a good size cross body bag (and a place to store all my ammo) so I grabbed my favorite Marc by Marc bag. I finished the look with these cream Steve Madden sandals that are also suprisingly comfortable. They are such an easy sandal to take from day to night.

My favorite part? (Besides the delicious drinks and big flowers in your hair) are these confetti filled eggs that you smash on other people's heads. I heard it was supposed to be for people you know but that wasn't really the case. Now let me tell you these aren't those plastic easter eggs you get every year in your basket. These were hollowed out egg shells filled with the kind of confetti that is impossible to clean up. Not to mention that they were decorated with little sombreros, hello kitty faces and dipped in a multitude of colors. The options were endless. Luckily they were stationed at every street corner in case I ran low. I got my assortment of multi-colored ones to throw at J and randomly toss into the crowds. But I couldn't toss the Nemo egg, I am keeping it as a memory of my first and hopefully not last fiesta!
This is the aftermath of fiesta. Confetti literally all over the city in every nook and cranny. Even the restaurants and bar floors were covered with layers and I can't even explain the traces left in the apartment. I probably brushed my hair 3 times and am still finding remnants. I am not complaining, I love it! I have no idea how they clean this up. I will have to check next weekend and see how much is still left behind.
Stay tuned for more!
